Care & Maintenance of your Roller Shutters
Roller Shutters are a valuable investment for any home or office, so it is important to ensure the longevity of such an investment. Cleaning and basic maintenance is quick and easy and will keep your roller shutters looking as good as they day they were installed.
Regular cleaning will prevent potential future maintenance issues. Excess build-up of dirt and dust will affect the performance of your roller shutters and may lead to costly repairs. It is recommended that you clean your roller shutters every season by wiping down with a soapy sponge across the curtain and up and down the guides.
Polish scratches or blemishes to the paint work with methylated spirits. It won’t affect the paint, but will remove the dirt and grime, bringing up a nice shine on the product.
Avoid using a hose, as this may squirt water into the pelmet and affect the motor or other working parts.
Avoid using sticky or silicon-based products as they will attract dust and grime.
Keep window sill and roller shutters clear of obstacles:
Your roller shutters do not have obstacle detection, so if your roller shutter lands on any solid item, it is likely to cause damage to slats and operating parts and possibly roll itself in reverse around the axle. If this occurs immediately stop the roller shutter and call for a service.
Maintain regular use:
If your roller shutters sit without operation for two long they may cease up. Regular use is recommended to keep them in good working order.
Wear & Tear:
Manual Shutters are prone to wear and tear. If you have a broken strap or jammed manual winder box it will need repairing. You may wish to consider upgrading your old manual roller shutters to electric and avoid unnecessary maintenance issues which can be inherent with manual roller shutters.
If you need any assistance with repairs please call us, and we can arrange a service. Our team can repair or replace your roller shutters – depending on the level of damage.
